Morocco is located at the extreme west of North Africa; it shares boarders with Algeria to the East, Mauritania to the South. It is limited by the Atlantic Ocean to the West and the Mediterranean Sea to the North.
Population 29 891 708 inhabitant (census of September 2004) urban population 55.1%.
Official language : Arabic
French is however currently used mainly in Marrakech.
Religions : A Muslim majority with Jewish and Christian minorities.

How to travel and to move in Morocco
By plane : many cities of the kingdom have airports. The main national departures take place from Casablanca. The most important international air companies regularly make their departures from European, American and Middle East cities.
Bank Opening hours: opening hours vary according to banks and seasons. Generally from 8.30 am to 11.30 am and from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm . In summer, working hours are continuous from 8.30 am to 2pm. With special working hours during Ramadan.
In Marrakech the banks are mainly concentrated in the Mohamed V and Mohamed VI Blvds.
Formalities: For French nationals , the passport is valid for the duration of the stay.
For some organized travels through traveling agencies or tour operators, the national ID card is enough.
Some nationals necessitate a visa for their stay in Morocco. This information may be changed without prior notice; it is worth getting information from the Moroccan consulate in Paris by calling 01.56.56.72.00.
For EU nationals please contact directly the Moroccan consulate of your country of origin. Reminder: the tourism stay is limited to three months.
Customs Administration:
According to general provisions in force, you may import under franchise without declaration and without formalities:
- Your personal items with a quantity corresponding to a current tourism activity.
- In case of a professional stay, you may import temporarily photo cameras, came scope, binoculars, CD reader. You are however supposed to re-export these objects at the end of your stay.
- 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 25 cigars.
- 1 liter bottle of wine or one liter bottle of alcohol.

Climate:
Temperature varies from one region to the other inside Morocco.
Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir or Fez. More Low-cost companies are serving these destinations.
By ship:
Many maritime lines and many companies can carry you to Morocco: main departures from Algéciras in Spain, Genoa in Italy and Sète in France. The destinations are Tangier, Nador and Seuta .
By train:
Trains are comfortable enough. First class is air-conditioned. The Sings and Panels in the train station are good.
By bus:
If you desire to discover the remote parts of Morocco or to travel between cities, the bus network is ideal. In every city there is a bus for transportation from one point to the other.
By taxi:
There are two types of taxis
Small taxis (Peugeot 205, Clio, Uno) cannot get outside cities.
Big taxis (big Mercedes cars mainly) may take you almost everywhere even for long distance travels.
Car rental:
You mat also rent cars without difficulty in order to discover Morocco as you wish. It is the best way to feel free to move where you desire. You are advised to drive carefully.

Currency:
The currency of Morocco is the dirham (dhm) one euro equals almost 11dhs
It is forbidden to import or export dirhams.
You may get money from banks using an international credit card or a cash machine.
The majority of hotels, restaurants, shops accept credit card payment. The exchange of currency also takes place in banks as well as in big hotels’ front-desks.
